Nice to finally here a good report! Good job.
Dad and I decided to burn another vacation day and see how early we were for the Smithville spawn. We put in at the W bridge park and headed south a couple of coves. Fished the whole cove with nothing to show for it other than wind burn and a couple small bass that were barely longer than the jig they were caught on.
After a rather bumpy boat ride down past Camp Branch, we pulled into one of our usual haunts. Fished bank busted the deeper side of the cove with a couple of hits, but only one 9.5" crappie to show for it. We fought the wind into the back of another cut, and found some chunk rock... And 61 degree water. The afternoon shift must've clocked in at that point because it was on! Had a good hour and a half of pretty steady action all in the back of that cut.
At the end of the day, we cleaned 11 fish, all but one were males. Probably caught 20-25 fish for the day.
All caught on white Bobby Garland shad (first time I've ever used them) with a road runner head, 3' deep or so off the bank.
I need my sleep... I need about eight hours a day, and at least ten at night. - Bill HicksTnRidge, fishinluke LIKED above post

Glad you found some, not a bass mess
That's an awesome report....persistence paid off! Things are looking up in Schmidtville!!! Now...everyone stay away so we don't fish it out!!!
I believe in catch and release.....right into the grease!!!!!
isn't it my luck I'm busy the next 2 weekends! looks like I'll have to take a day next week off or you all will have caught them all!
Hope these good reports keep coming!!
