Good because it has me worried! And they are not little crappie. The ones I have seen have all been tween 12-14 give or take inches.
Not an official response, but I do believe our biologists took some of the dead fish they picked up yesterday at Sardis over to MSU for testing.

when we prefished Saturday, I ran into a friend of mine at the ramp as he was talking to the warden. He told the warden that he saw anywhere from 60 to 70 crappie floating. My friend offered to take the warden to the areas where he saw the fish, the warden got on the radio and talked with someone but when he finished he decided againist going out to look. not sure if the person on the other end of the radio, told him that they already had some samples or what happend. I personally only saw around 10 over the weekend but I fished on the east part of lake with a East wind, so most fish would have gone towards the dam.
We had something similar start over here on Lake Tuscaloosa last week...only affecting the crappie. There were reports of hundreds of dead crappie on the upper end of the lake. This lake is never drawn down so it is always at full pool. Here is a link to the biologists explanation in the Tuscaloosa News..http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/articl...53/0/FRONTPAGE

Life is short...Do it now !!
Banker, I was listening to that radio conversation. The biologists were already at another area on Saturday and I think they went up there yesterday to pick up some of the fish. Thanks for reporting the fish because I think that was the first any of us had heard about it. I did hear them mention something about spawning stress being a possible cause.
Once again, I'm not in the official "loop" to know what is wrong with the fish. I just wanted to let y'all know it is being looked into and we appreciate the reports.
This happened about 10 years ago on sardis, so many crappie died they were floating everywhere and smelled terrible. If I remember correctly the biologists weren't very concerned about it. It was just something that happens occasionally to crappie after they have been stressed by the spawn. I notice some dead crappie while fishing saturday, but nothing like it was the last time it happened
Mr. Obama gonna save us all !!!!
Well I saw a lot more than 10 on both days. I did notice a few other species of fish as well. It was not as noticeable for me on Sunday but that could be that east wind was blowing them away from where I was
Hey Rebelduck, are you still catching fish in the same area I saw you last? Just wondering, might be headed that way sometime this week. Later.
Fw227, thanks for the info good to know its being looked into.
So can we still blame the Core?:D
