    Default New Territory

Looking for some advice: should I drive 2 hours to Sardis or my normal 35 minutes to Reelfoot. I'm not looking to catch a limit but 5-10 keepers would be nice along several throwbacks. I need to explore some new fishing spots since my wife doesn't really like Reelfoot due the flying carp and hitting stumps (or snakes in the spring/summer). I have a Tracker ProCrappie 175 with 40 hp and I pretty much just spider rig. Not sure how I would do only using 4 poles at Sardis when I'm by myself!

If I could answer that question, I could be a multimillionaire.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

If you can catch a day when this wind ain't blowing I'd go to Sardis. But this time of year with unpredictable as weather is I might just stay close to home. Plenty of fish caught with just 4 poles. Wind going to decide wheather your boat is ok. Most days it's just fine.

Thanks, I don't ever go if the wind is supposed to be 10 mph or more! Of course, 5 mph feels like 15 a lot of times.

I think there may be a lake closer to you that is part of the big 4 family (although disowned mostly) as well, can't member the name, it starts with an A I believe.. somebody supposedly caught a crappie there once

If you are able to bring a camper for an extended stay Ross Barnett is another option. It's a little further down the road so I know you wouldn't want to make the daily drive but it can be great in the winter and there is always the option of going upriver if the wind is up.

Go slow, be safe. Not much water in the reservoirs. Even launching is getting sketchy.

Yep, it can be an awesome lake for you if you get to know it.....full of monster slabs. Mr. Jim taught me how to fish it. Will always be indebted to him for that!

Sardis if you have time. Love Reelfoot - hate 3 rods hung up half the time! Lol
