    Default LATE REPORT

Well, just got done with two weeks of vacation. Maybe now I can get some rest at work. Me and a bud rented a cabin at Enid April 2-4. This was our 4th year going and as always we learned alot. The water was lower than we had ever fished it. For two old schoolers fishing with cork and minnow we new it would be a challenge. Most every stick, stump, limb, and bush was high and dry or had a wader standing watch over it. Determined as ever we set out the 1st day and managed to capture 8 nice no measurement needed and 5 throw backs. We found the right depth, just not enough structure. So, we spent the last couple hours riding all over the lake marking structure. Wind got up, so we headed to check-in at our cabin. At the cabin, we met two fine neighbors from Illinois who had been here all week. It was there first time here and they were leaving in the morning. They hadn't done much all week, but gushed about the nice people of Mississippi. We shared our dinners, ours deer tenderloin, there's spicy fried chicken tenders. No sides but Miller Lite, Jim Bean, and peach schnaaps. Glad I didn't have to drive back to Illinois the next day. That evening mother nature finally unleashed some much needed rain, not to mention lightning and high wind. Don't know what kind of warnings were going on, but I did get up and get dressed before getting back in bed. We had planned to sleep in Monday and fish till dark. Well, all weather had cleared except for the wind. We decided to go walk some creek banks and wade. I could tell you what kind of escapades this led to, but I'm running log in the tooth already. A long story short we zeroed.
Tuesday we were up at buttcrack and the lake was like glass. We went to our first two brush piles and the water had risen to where we could barely see one and the other was under. After hanging up and missing a few we went on to the next. Hello Mr Crappie! We caught 5 keepers and 3 throwbacks. We were headed to our next one but there was a boat on it. The next two hours we bounced around and caught 3 more keepers and a few throwbacks. Going back down the lake we saw that the boat from earlier was gone. We headed over there and caught 3 good ones right off the bat. The wind was starting to blow just enough to aggravate. So, we got some rope and tied off to the magic brush pile. We sat there till we run out of minners. At the end we had caught 20 keepers and guessing 15 throwbacks out of this one brush pile. Ended the day with 28, with only two between 12 and 13. It was a great time, with a great friend and now have two new friends. Good luck to all of ya'll!
