    Default What A Day!!!!

What an awesome day it turned out to be although it did not start that way. 21 teams hit the water at Enid Lake this morning for the Crappie.com FJ Series April tourney. As we got to where we wanted to start we encounter 2 and 3 foot rollers but being hard headed I decided to try it. I shut the Merc off and hit the deploy button on the Ulterra, it went about halfway and stopped, no power, nothing. I threw the chains out and trying to figure it out but no luck.
Told the son-in-law, Colin Dally, we could just drift with the monster waves and maybe catch them using a trick my Ole budro taught me several years ago.
We couldn't run with the troller half cocked and we made several passes as the wind drifted us due west. We had to cut short by an hour and hope we could get the boat loaded, we had to remove the motor completely and head to Long Branch Bait Shop for a 3 o'clock weigh-in. When the dust settled and the sheet totaled up Colin and I had finished in first place winning our first tourney together, first of many we hope and without a trolling motor, SWEET!!!!
Thanks Tim Howell for hosting us, awesome job as always Tim!!!

Biggest crappie to date is 3 lb 9 oz at grenada in 1988. Still hangs on my wall.

Congrats John!! Way to adapt and overcome. I wonder how many tournaments have been won without a TM? I bet there haven't been many.
