Default Just got off Morrison Lake

Arrived at 7AM an the launch was almost full , but no problems , a lot of fisherman. Drifted over the basins found fish, but getting a bite was tough. After hearing about how they were almost flying in the boat, the last few weeks. What worries me was the numbers of dead fish floating on the surface. All species but mostly pan fish, counted 30 before we left at 2:30Pm . WE kept everything we hooked ,which was 2 crappies an 10 Gills Crappies 10" and 9" ,Blue gills 5-7". Water clarity ,about 2 foot, looked as it was full of silt.
I thought fish trembled when they heard my name.......then I heard the laughter

Could have been a algae bloom going on, but at least you got out fishing

There were a few dead crappie Sunday when we were out, water was a dirty green color. This lake always looks nasty during the summer months, I'm thinking massive boat traffic and agricultural runoff. Too bad you didn't catch more but that's fishing. At least you weren't working.

Yes, enjoyed the fishing, and was told they tasted great.

Forgot to mention . all were caught using 1/16th ounce orange jig head, with a 1 inch GULP smelt minnow threaded on the hook, under a slip bobber set for 12 foot deep. the fish were suspended over the deep basins from 20 t0 10 Ft.

I've never used gulp out there, usually red worms or a piece of crawler. I catch most of the crappie on small tube jigs, black/ pink, pink/ white are good but they usually aren't real picky. I plan on going out some evening with a bucket of minnows and slip bobber fish them after dark.

When you slip bobber after dark, do you use a light?

I have seen that done online, but never done it yet.

Supposedly a great tactic for Crappie.

Never done it either but I'm either going to get an underwater light or use led lights to see the bobbers
