It seems like everything was a lengthy process today, I simply wanted to move the snow out of my driveway. Easy when you think about it, start tractor. hook up blade and move the snow.......
NOT!
First thing, I need to move the lawn mower which was the last thing I used a month or so back......well it's 0 degrees out and not much warmer in the unheated part of my pole barn and theres this thing called COLD cranking amps.......apparently it needed more than my battery was willing to give, so I need to find the battery charger and put some life in the battery.
Did I mention I first needed to go to the gas station and get 10 gallons of gas for my 70 hp John Deere? Well that took a extra hour I think.......every body was filling up this morning.
I Put gas in the JD while mower battery is charging......boom mower starts right up, now this is a zero turn mower and I don't think they were designed to drive through the 6-8 inches of snow that fell......I have to move it out into the unplowed driveway through the snow in order to get the tractor out and hook up the blade. After several attempts I got the zero turn out enough to make a pass for the tractor to get out of my shop......Need to start the tractor.......yep, it also needed a charge, this is a new battery too. Tractor starts, I move it out into the driveway and inch the mower back into the barn and park it way up front.....don't need it till about April so I won't worry about it for a while.
Back up the tractor to the blade and surprisingly that hooked up easily and I was plowing snow......or is that dirt/gravel? The ground isn't frozen so I needed to be careful to set my 3 point adjustment so it removed snow and left my terra firma in place. I have a long driveway and it takes multiple passes but I do get the job done, not perfectly but good enough that any cars coming here can get in and out. I put the tractor away and look at my clock.....hmmmm, a 1 hour job at best just took 3 1/2 hours.
At least now everything is gassed up, charged up and hooked up for the next time.
OH.......and then it was off to Lake-O with the Mrs. to her favorite shop for some Christmas gifts for the girls on her list and then to Lansing for more shopping.....yaaay me!
I did get a good idea for a new travelling trophy for fish camp at Michaels craft shop!
