I have seen them on a few boats in for sevrive, they work well, but need to make sure your steering cable will reach because it will move you motor back about 6 inches and there is no stretch in a steering cable. To short could cause a cable failure with a very bad outcome. Tom

I have one on my 25 hp yammie 4 stroke, love it! What do you need answered?
The unit is rated for up to 35hp, my tracker has a 40hp johnson, will that difference make it where i have to move up to the higher rating?? Will i need a new steering cable?? my tilt assist is losing its oil again and the cost for the CMC is similar and tilt assist cylinders are hard to find.--shu

If it where me I would look for an engine, Johnson or Evinrude 40, 48, 50 that has factory trim and tilt, find a motor that is blown up, bad lower unit, look on ebay for one being parted out, the factory unit will fit on the motor where your tilt assit is located without any modifications . It may take some digging but if you found a junk motor you could get t-n-t with wiring, relay's, everything and it will go right on your engine. Just avoid ANY motor that has been in Salt Water, nothing but trouble.

I wouldn't do it. Sure one could say well its only 5HP difference but a lot of models went to a larger block between 35 and 40HP therefore increasing weight. You could go to Nadaguides.com and compare weight between what you have and a 35 of the same model number. If they are close then you might be OK. As for the cable it varies between boats and what the dealer installed. Best thing to do is take the cable loose and see if you have enough slack for it to work on a motor sitting 6" further back. Chances are it will be OK.
