Johnson fuel line connector

I just recently purchased a 1998 Johnson 15 hp four stroke. I have purchased two female fuel line connectors from Walmart’s, and neither one will connect fully onto the male connector. You can push it on there, and the little silver snap never snaps, and you can pull it right off, which doesn’t let me prime my primer bulb. Am I missing something? Is there a different connector for that motor being that it’s four stroke?

Sounds like they may be mispackaged. Get one from somewhere else and try it.

Did you try and flip the connector over? Both sides, the fuel delivery and the securing pin are the same diameter. The connector will slide on either way, but will only "lock" when in the correct orientation.

The side with the thumb lever goes over the pointed prong.

This shows how it should connect. If it doesn't, you have the wrong connector.
