Default To much oil in Honda 115?

I changed the oil in my 2018 Honda 115. I used the correct amount of oil per the owners manual and dipstick. Later on I had an issue with the motor running itself out of fuel at wide open throttle. To restart the motor I had to pump up the fuel ball. I took it back to my Honda dealer and after a few days they said they could not duplicate the fuel issue. I called today and they said they were able to duplicate my issue and I was way over on my engine oil level. 2 quarts over. What I want to know is where did 2 extra quarts come from? Gas mixed in the oil? I've only got about 12 hours on this oil change so I'm a little stumped hearing about 2 quarts.

Gas can get in the oil if the piston rings are stuck. You should be able to smell it on the dip stick. If thats the case....change oil and filter again.....get some Ring Free and mix at proper ratio with your gas. It wouldnt hurt to put some Sea Foam in with it too and then take the boat out and run it hard. Rings can carbon up and stick sometimes if you do a lot of slow running.

Thanks G. Yes I do a lot of trolling for rockfish and probably spend way to much time looking at all the neat stuff on my SI. The shop I took it to gave me hell on the phone for the motor having 2 quarts to much oil. I couldn't make them understand I only put in 7 quarts which is what owners manual calls for. The motor has about 49 hours on it.

7 quarts? Wow, I have a small ,4 stroke, but i never imagined a 115 would have 7 qt. oil capacity. My buddy's 60 Yammy only takes 2 qts. (Liters, actually, which makes you buy an extra quart to get 2 more ounces!)I
Does the 7 qt. include the oil filter and did you change the filter? That could account for a quart.

Same issue with Yamaha 115. Did the initial oil/filter change myself and noticed poor performance. Took it to shop and had the oil and filter changed. Mechanic told me that if I don't run the motor the rings will never seat and I will have issues like the "making oil". He said that if nothing else, every time I am heading back to the dock at the end of the day, run that thing at max for about a mile or two. 4 cycle engines run much cooler and at 3000-3500 RPMS it just does not get hot enough....All I can say is that since running it at max for periods of time, it has never performed better....

Engine oil capacity on a 2018 Honda 4 stroke in my owner's manual is 6.9 quarts without filter change and 7.1 with a filter. I broke the motor in according to the book. I took the manual with me and ran the RPM range for the exact amount of time required and varied the speed as required. I try to run the motor hard sometimes during the day but most of the time I just don't have to run far to get to a fishing spot. I wonder if the other 4 stroke brands are having the same problem? My Mercury 75 never made oil.

Going to ask a dumb question and don't get offended. Did you run motor on muffs and recheck on dipstick after letting settle down for about 10 minutes after oil change? 2 things will cause these new 4 strokes to make oil, #1 prolonged idle speed as in trolling.
#2 is a bad plug not firing at lower rpm. And most times they run so good you won't notice it.

#1 would apply to me. I pull baits for rockfish a lot. I rechecked oil level after next two fishing trips and it looked fine. I will say I don't check it after every trip like the book says to. I will after this though.
