    Default Mercury vessel view mobile

Anyone with experience Mercury's vessel view mobile kit? Opinions and feed back on it?

My boat didn't come with any gauges. I'm thinking that this would be better and cheaper.

Looked it up. Looks pretty cool. Just a bit pricy for the module and looks awkward to use when running down the lake to me. But I'm getting old and not to cordanated anymore. Figure holding phone in hand and driving boat is accident waiting to happen. I guess it depends mainly how much information you are looking for or need. Installing a Tachometer would be much less expensive. I would download that free app to phone, go out in boat and try to play with it while running boat. It's not going to give you real data from your motor but would give you the feel of what it would be like to get info while driving. And that wouldn't cost you a dime.

I figured I could just put a phone mount next to my GPS.

There's quite a few guys over on BBC that have these. The Vessel view mobile is good for accurate RPM, tracking fuel consumption, reading fault codes, and monitoring voltage, ect.
The two most common complaints I hear about are that you have to buy extra sensors if you want it to read water pressure or trim and that you have to pair it to your phone each time you start the motor up

The standard stuff is all I want.

Do you mean manually pair it with the phone like a new device each time, or just wait for it to connect like anything else?

I don't have one but I think you just have to go to your Bluetooth menu on your phone and select it
