Looking at above boat, it's got a 14 pitch prop on it, guy I'm buying it from is putting new prop on it, other one has been bent and straightened. He said dealer advised a 15 pitch, what's the benefit or drawback to switching props like this?

Could drop RPM into proper range if running to many RPM's. Could if keeping RPM's in proper range increase speed. If 14 had it in proper range 15 could drop them to much. Proper pitch in a certain application depends on hull style, boat load, height of motor on transom lots of variables. Ideal thing is take 2 props like a 14 and a 15 and run boat and check rpm and performance with both. Also if doing this you want worse case scenario, full fuel, full live well and normal weight of bodies and tackle.
