here is the coupler i made.
cutting that piece of crankshaft off that mated to the lower unit shaft, really made this alot simpler to do.
Very nice! Thanks!

Just what I need, another project that I really wanna try lol. I'm definitely going to give it a go at some point.
Do you have any pics of your throttle set up? Also does the reverse/froward still work?
That is some sweet innovation there!!! LOVE IT!! Makes me wonder what the v-twin off my lawnmower would do!
You could even run your exhaust down into the water if you wanted. Would be next to silent then. How does it push the boat? As in getting it up out of the water. Does it have any trouble?
I would love to see a link pop up here with a video. Anyone else like to see that?!?
Great job! Thanks for sharing it with us!
"But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 25:15
put this motor in the water 150 times this year, worked flawlessly. it worked better then i would have thought.
i removed 3 screws and took the gas tank off, then removed 3 bolts and took the motor off the lower unit. then i was able to bring motor in the house for the winter. that was easy...
I just read your thread and I have to say, your conversion came out looking awesome. It's the cleanest briggs/outboard conversion I've seen. I just put together my own using a 6.5 hp briggs and a 1968 Evinrude 6hp lower end which looks exactly like yours. From the looks of your pictures your boat is a 12', correct? My motor is mounted on a 10 ft Starcraft aluminum boat. It's good to hear that yours has been reliable. I was wondering what you do for top speed?
