Yes.. tubing is stronger than c-channel
I have a small crappie boat - pretty lightweight (1977 15' fiberglass Cane Cutter w/50 hp) its currently on a small trailer with a 1.25" C-channel axle and 1" spindles. Got trailer for free and its old. The threads stripped out on one of the spindles when I changed bearings, ordered a new spindles/hubs kit and its on the way. I have a piece of galvanized pipe with what appears to be 1/8" wall thickness. 1.25" ID. Same wall thickness as the c-channel thats on it. Question is - Will the pipe be stronger than the c-channel? Its set up now with the opening of the c channel facing downward, leaves on top. Planning on welding the spindles in the pipe myself and bolting it back together. Adding angle iron where needed for the leafs to sit on. Just want to make sure the pipe will be sturdy enough. Its only 60" wide end to end.
Thanks for any advice.

Yes, I ran a trailer for years with a pipe axle like that about same size. Hauled 2 different boats, first very similar to yours a old Kingfisher and then a HP hull bass boat. Then sold it to a guy who put another bath tub style arrow glass bass boat on it and ran it for years before selling rig.

I for one would like to see your build. Big or small we LOVE them all!!
Is your CC a trihull? I'd like to see pics also. Would love to find an old stick steer; kingfisher, ouachita, straham, terry, etc.
