    Default A new problem question??????

Finally on the water after 5 months. The Ulterra installed and working. The engine is not overheating now.

WOT issue (or on plane): The engine jumps on occasion. It is like I hit something in the water on occasion. The engine just jerks some. This is just on occasion. The engine is running with the cavitation plate just at water level.

The engine printout shows no faults.

Any help would be appreciated. It is a 2011 30hp Merc 4 stroker.

Rubber hub in the prop may be trying to go bad.

Since this is a new rig I'm wondering if the shift cable isn't adjusted properly and it's not going all the way in gear.

That is a possibility. I rigged it. I will have to pull it out of the water to check it I guess.

Unhook cable from shift lever on motor. Get it in neutral with that lever. Put connector up to shift lever. It should center on hole in shift lever with out moving anything to connect. If it does not, adjust cable end until it centers in hole. Sure sounds as if it could be poping out of forward. Also could be a miss fire but looks like that would show on computer.

Sounds like its popping out of gear to me also...and I know CP you have it setup properly...but is it possible that its spinning out in certain circumstances? You say on occasion...what is happening during these occasions? Any common element? Have you tried rocking a bit or shifting weight while underway to see if you can reproduce it?

Hopefully resetting neutral will solve it for you..think cray has it.

Have you watched the tach to see what it does when this happens? Know that would be hard if its quick and you are not able to reproduce it...just thought I'd ask.

Did as Cray stated. Everything looks fine. Shifter moves correctly, not binding. I left my portable dashboard art home, so no tach today. Will drive around later when the traffic calms and take notes.
