    Default Trailer Axel

Trailer question for anyone with some knowledge. I ordered a new trailer axle, it was measured by the shop. The spring seats are correct but from the seats to the end of spindle is 2" longer per side . So can this work, my tires will sit 2" out further than before. The axle is rated for 3500# my boat and gear is 2500# or less.

It will depend on how wide your fenders are and what style tires and rims you are running. You may be able to depending on the offset of the rims, flip the wheels around to offset the wheels back into the trailer. A welding shop can cut the spindles off and relocate them 2 inches inward if the axle won't work as is.

I would go back and have them get me the right axle. They didn't measure something right. 2 inches adds a lot more stress on the spindle end of the axle between where spindle is welded on and the support of spring seat. Just a bent axle end waiting to happen.

Sumbody needs a new tape measure thingy! Get the right axle and dont waste your money trying to adapta fit the wrong axle. Just asking for problems IMO
