I would think that the drag on the reel should have been a tad bit looser. But I cannot point fingers because I usually don't retie until I break off.But my problem is just laziness.
Lesson learned. That eye did look a little rough.

almost NEVER have drag issues , I am super fast at realizing that issue well before a fish can take advantage of my mistakes
but I also run drag checks WAY more than the average bear and for sure do it before ANY hook hits the water ....
the problem was elsewhere , it wasn't actually an operator issue ,,,,,or at least that is what my crew always tells me

BINGO , bad paint job and worser job of cleaning it off before it came to me ....
baked on paint jobs that cover the eyelet of a jig and then get kinda halfway cleaned up create a HACKSAW that will eat MONO like its warm butter under a hot knife ....
seen it sometimes BEFORE I tie it on and other times I see it a photo capture from the fish before it went away ....
old eyes and no glasses make it a problem , so BUYER BEWARE , some of them folks making jigs ain't as good as others doing it .....silly me thinking they was a deal at the price she wanted for them, right .....

she did tie it up to my EXACT specifications , gave her one to replicate , bought a box full cheap back when ....
bought out of them now thank you , they are the reason god created braid though .....that way you can ketch number 3 and possibly 4 before the crappy paint job cuts your line .....
