Yep, I so totally understand the frustration with the USPS. Every time the Postmaster General changes, the new one changes things, supposedly to make things better, and the mess gets worse. I totally remember there being two slots for out going letter mail...In-Town, Out Of-Town. Didn't take 3 weeks to get a local letter across town. Why on earth should a letter go from this city, 3-1/2 hours away to another city, across the river to another city and state, through yet another city in the other state, only to return to the original city to go through yet two more distribution centers before reaching the post office that makes the deliveries??? Woke job security is my only guess... Not trying to be Political here.

I sent a pretty sizable certified check to Colorado for a vintage .22 target tool. As always I took a photo of the check, the package and the receipt with the tracking number and sent it to the seller. It sat in IL for almost two weeks before I put a stop on the check, got a replacement check and sent it next day air Fed Ex, cost me over $60 extra. The seller sent me a message saying both checks arrived and that he’d put the original in the box with my purchase. When I picked up my package the original check and envelope were in a clear envelope. The original had fork truck tracks on it and almost a third of the envelope had been torn off. When I opened it most of the account and routing numbers were torn off the check. So I take it to my local PO and the post master looked at it and said “I don’t see anything wrong with it”. My reply was, how could they cash it without all the account information? She refunded my original postage, about $15 and that was it, no apology, nothing. I have several similar experiences with our inept postal service.

You’d have to go back to 1970 to get political about the post office. Since then they have been on their own. They are not federal employees. No federal retirement. No tax dollars go to it. It’s pretty much operates as a private business that is in a financial mess.

    Regards

USPS routing is utterly ridiculous. If I sent anything to my next door neighbor it will go to Richmond (100 miles NW of me) and then back to Chesapeake to them. Out of state things?? Good luck. Maybe they should start using Amazon.

Postal delivery is service not a business. They could turn a profit but if they do many rural areas will not have any mail service at all.

it is truly amazing the nonsensicalness of that operation.
a letter from 25 to 30 miles away takes around 5 to 7 days .
it has to route thru 4 substations , not sure how that can be , but it is really totally unbelievable that it is that confusing and off the charts complicated.
and Amazon can get you an order the same day from about as far away .....go figure

I think most of us have experienced this with the USPS.
    Hope you get it soon.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!

I have plants I ordered and were scheduled for delivery Saturday and they were last scanned the 28th at USPS distribution center still 4 states away. I’m not feeling real good about receiving them healthy and alive.
