    Default Power drive vs Terrova

Hey guys, what’s the difference between the two? If I’m correct, they both can have spotlock installed, and they both are remote plus have a wired foot pedal.

The terrova has a better foot pedal and it also has a lift assist. My powerdrive can be stubborn to deploy sometimes.

AND unless they've changed the Terrova pedal CAN be used with auto pilot, but Power Drive can't.

I agree with Tracker..base power drive came on my boat and is a good motor. But, I went with the terova when I went to 24volt and spot lock even though the power drive offered the same.. The deploy and lift assist recovery system really is that much better with terova. Made my fishing more enjoyable.

Very similar, but my ST (Terrova) is easier to deploy than my SP (Powerdrive) Only if $$$ is tight would I pick the PD over the Terrova.

That being said, they both work.

I disagree Thill. I’ve had a PD40, a 70lb riptide autopilot and now have a 55lb terrova. Most of the time I owned the autopilot I regretted not buying the Ipilot. The autopilot, which could also be upgraded to spotlock but no foot pedal was available, served me well for over ten years without issue but the extras in the terrova make it that much better. I also had a hard time deploying the autopilot sometimes. If the bank is low, wait til you can get the terrova and I strongly doubt that you will regret the money spent.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the foot pedal thing. That can be an issue for some.

My nephew HATES his PD because he is addicted to the foot pedal. I, on the other hand, hate using a foot pedal. I have a cordless one, but only use it as a backup, if the battery in my remote dies.

    Good point, Skeet!

The PD is similar to the Terrova. in fact, many people wouldn't know the difference, but there is. The deploy and stow system is much better with the Terrova, and if you have moce up to the I-pilot system, the Terrova can use a wireless foot pedal along with the remote.

I think they are a couple hundred dollars different in cost. If you like having both the foot pedal and spot lock, the upgrade is probably worth it.

How that should have read is:
"The deploy and stow system is much better with the Terrova, and if you move up to the I-pilot system, the Terrova can use a wireless foot pedal along with the remote, whereas the Powerdrive is remote controlled only."

Some guys have figured out how to use a foot pedal with them. You can see the how-to on YouTube, but it's not a great system, if you ask me. Just get the Terrova if you want both.
