Did a little trolling with Road Runner and Charlie Brewer on it today. Works good. Just used the rod I had and held in my hand. No special setup
what are so good lures to troll with?
what is a good braid that you do not have tie a special knot?
do you recommend getting trolling rods?

I agree with SuperDave but I don’t have Pico nor Mr crappie baits. I do have bandit 300s and bombers (just what I already had before join website).
I don’t run braid so
I don’t have trolling specific rods. I have some bass pro and couple other spinning reel rods. That work fine. I troll year round with occasionally dock shoot.

Flicker Shad 7 is another crank bait you might want to try. I’ve had some luck trolling them this Summer.

What is a good size line
12 lb fluorocarbon direct to a number 12 snap swivel is what I use pulling cranks.

Hopefully someone who knows a lot more than me will chime in and give you a better answer on line size than me. I am using 9 lb braid but that’s because someone else suggested it to me. Our lake has a LOT of sunken timber and I’ve lit a could of crank baits to them. But OTOH, I don’t know that I would have gotten them back if I had been fishing 20 lb. What do some of you who know more about it than me. GF
Put about 70-100 hours a year on my kicker trolling, for fish...crappie,walleye mostly. Troll everything from cranks, spinners, spoons, over spin, under spins, lindy rigs, bottom bouncers, dipsy divers pretty much anything you can cast and reel in you can troll, I've got counter reels, baitcast reels, and spinning reels use them all trolling on and off, just put it in the water and go trolling, after a while you'll figure out what works for you.
I've trolled jigs and cranks mostly and started with what I had til I figured out what worked for me. I’ve whittled it down to enough rod holders for twelve rods and seldom run more than eight. Trolling jigs I used hi vis eight mono and cranks I used that and power pro 10/2 yellow tied to a duo lock snap. If you want to get some hung cranks back you might change to a lighter hook. That and braid helped me get some of mine back. Never had a crappie straighten any of my hooks but some large whisker trout did.
12 lb fluorocarbon direct to a number 12 snap swivel is what I use pulling cranks. I also recommend a guided trip with MRDux (member) who pulls and pushe cranks this time of year. His business is here Home | crappie-gills-n-more.
It’s money well spent as Doug has a wealth of knowledge and will teach you while you fish. Great guy to learn from. He taught me the basics.
