Walleye

I’d like to go on a walleye trip, but not sure where the closest there is to go from West Tn? Any recommendations on who and where?

It would be hard to beat a spring trip to Lake Erie and the Detroit River. Numbers and size, liberal limits and lots of access. I would say pre April 1 for catching the big mama's in the river, April 1 to May 1 >< for numbers and after May 1 for a mixed bag of walleye and white bass.

A little closer to home ... there are several lakes in KY known to have good Walleye populations. I've caught them in Lake Cumberland & Green River Lake, in the distant past, but was not fishing specifically for them. I do not, however, know of any guides that are specific to Walleye fishing, nor what time of year is prime time for the fish or at any of the lakes that have them.

Centerhill Lake and Dale Hollow are prob the closest lakes in TN. Normandy and Tims Ford have walleye. The Cumberland River has them with sauger. Below Old Hickory and Cordel Hull. We usually troll Centerhill when it gets hot during the summer w/ crankbaits.

I’ve got no connections but Norfork in Arkansas is supposed to have a good population of walleye.

Fishing Erie is on my bucket list of Walleye fishing an unbelievable fishery with millions of Eyes.

Ky Lake is fairly close to you. Below Pickwick (technically Ky Lake) is typically really good for sauger and some walleye mixed in between Dec and end of Feb. Center Hill can be solid, as well as Dale Hollow. Much of the fishing is done during the pre-spawn/spawn, and that is pretty much done in TN already. I do believe there are some walleye guides on Center Hill and they target them there other times of the year, and I think Dale H as well.

Fishing Erie is on my bucket list of Walleye fishing an unbelievable fishery with millions of Eyes.

I try to get up to Erie from Ga, around Cleveland every spring, normally beginning to end of May and fish from the rocks and piers. It's a blast. Jigs and P10 crank baits.
That's a few we caught, with some white bass too.

Another vote for Lake Erie. It's been a few years but we have had some really good trips out of Port Clinton Ohio. I'd like to go back myself.
