Yeah, my go to rod for LS flippin' is a 12' BnM Diamond Series rod that I got last year ... so far I'm liking it a lot.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your problem with balancing the 14' outfit, but if it's going to be in a rod holder I see no need for it to be balanced.

I’ll use the 14’ when the fish spook easy. I may not fool with balancing unless I start using it more.

I find that rods longer then 12 ft are pretty uncomfortable for me to use in hand for any extended(non rodholder) length of time.I go to a shorter rod like a 6'6 and pitch out to the spookier fish.

Yeah, I use a 12' rod for flippin double jig rigs & have a 8' rod for flippin single jigs (Livescope fishing). All my 14' rods are rigged for Pushing jigs & go in a rod holder. My single jig casting rods are in the 6-7' lengths and I generally use them for specific baits I'm throwing. My Pushing outfits haven't seen much use since I got Livescope, and there's the extreme heat factor I avoided last year that also kept me from doing much Pushing. Even tried it at night a couple of times, but didn't do well enough to continue doing it after that.

I agree. I would like to hold one of the higher end poles just to see how they feel.

I’m slowly starting to single pole more with livescope, so may get me a flipping set up also. As I learn livescope, I’ll likely get away from pushing and pulling, unless someone goes with me.

YES !! Learn your Livescope ... and you can even use it when Pushing/Pulling to keep your path ahead clear of potential hang-up spots, well before you get to them. I only had Down Image when I started Pushing & hung up quite often. I just use my DI unit for maps/waypoints, now that I have LS. And if I do Push jigs again, I'll have it set 60ft out to see baitfish schools, pods of fish, or submerged cover & at what depths. That will help me determine how deep my baits need to be running.
