New to this.
So I booked a trip to Reelfoot Lake the 2nd week of April. I know I know, I keep hearing negative reports. But my dad has been wanting to go for years, his health is declining so I finally decided to book a trip for us. We are staying/fishing the upper Blue Basin. Can anyone give me any advice? Spots/set-ups etc. Please nothing negative, I really just want some advice so he can have a good trip and hopefully get on some slabs. We are self guiding.
Thanks!

I have only been there once in my life but if I was to go again... I would pay for a guide 1 time to learn from him.

I’m no help, never been there but spawn might be starting if there’s a good warm spell.
Plenty of big cypress trees to fish around.
Good luck

never been there but if I went I would focus on the north end shallow water under 10 foot deep and of course spy on other crappie folks to see where they tended to hang around , I am for sure not past pot licking on a lake I don't know .
sum kawl me tha outlaw ketchn whales
Those trees; if you are running the boat go slow, giant trees can be inches below surface in seemingly open water.

Fish an area called Champys Pocket.
Been there many times when my brother lived in Dyersburg, Tn.
The entire lake is very shallow so go real slow.
You should do well.
Good luck

you should be dead on with them dates. If you are set up to spider rig or live scope either one during mid-April, I would fish the Moultrie Field to start right out from Blue Bank Resort also as mentioned above Champy pocket will be good as well. You can also go to the north end at Kirby Pocket and fish all the cypress trees as well. As long as the weather is decent you won't have any problems catching fish during these dates you have booked.
