Curiosity. How many fish are really near the bottom? Photo.

I keep wondering how many fish are really near the bottom of the lake?




Are we missing a lot of fish by not using a floating Carolina Rig to target them? I welcome your opinions on this subject.

These soft plastic Wax Worm lures float on my Carolina Rig and the embroidery thread holds the slab sauce really well.

At times many big Crappie are on bottom . You can see it on livescope !

often times as mentioned above some of the really big crappie are very close to the bottom , one lake I frequent you will absolutely about never ever find one anywhere else in the water column on that lake, the lake is very shallow for the most part and probably has an average depth of 7 to 8 feet.

LOL my friend.

I try and target "Yella" Perch as well as Shellcracker, Bluegill and Crappie with my lure. I fish for dinner and to transport the ones I catch to "Lake Crisco."

One thing the scope has taught me is that the floor has unlimited amounts of fish. When I first started crappie fishing a good buddy I met on here too me long lining. He fished about 2 cranks up from the bottom. I never understood why, but now I know.

I have never owned or used a live scope. I just noticed that I catch more fish near the bottom than on a slip bobber on the top of the water fishing three feet deep. At least I know that whether I am fishing from the shore or on a boat my lures are where the majority of the fish are when I use the Floating Carolina Rig.

I vertical fish from docks that are 20 to 40 ft deep. Some days they are on or near the bottom, someday 6 to 8 ft suspended in the brush. Biggest percentage of the time the sweet spot is 15 to 20 ft in the winter.

Sometimes is see fish right on the bottom with ls. I am just not sure the best way to target them a floating lure on a Carolina rug would work great cast and slow roll through them would work for sure.
