I didn't need livescope either to catch fish but the shear amount of education that you will see live on sonar, not a glob of mop hairs laying on the bottom will teach you real quick that a lot of your knowledge about crappie can be thrown overboard. For instance, many thought crappie would not dive after a bait, they absolutely will. What i was astonished to discover is that more times than not by a landslide that jigging the jig will absolutely horrify a crappie. I have found that they prefer it dead still in most cases. I also learned that the decision to strike is 10 times greater if you let them see the jig on their terms. In other words, don't bomb them with your bait. I've have seen over and over and over again that if you put that bait right in the middle of them to fast they will explode and be gone! It's amazing that a tiny one inch jig or a minnow will horrify a crappie but it absolutely will.
And it's not only about the crappie with livescope. Watching the bass torpedo the balls of shad is fantastic entertainment. Watching the school's of white bass murder a shad school is very cool. Also, you can absolutely pinpoint on a shad school and watch the net go through the school and know exactly when to pull on the rope for a net full of shad. Crappie love those shad! However, i can't get away from my jigs long enough to use any live shad hardly.
I watch all your videos and you have it down for sure. Im coming to fish lake Houston when i get time. Living on the coast south of Houston i have to drive long distances to crappie fish. Love your videos!! Especially those slow motion thumps! That is the real deal!

Yes you can get lifescope for $2100 with the discounted 93 sv + display unit. This is what I bought initially. You can also buy it cheaper by getting the LV12 unit which wasn't available when I bought my unit. However to get the kind of action you see on a lot of the youtube videos you need a more expensive unit with the upgraded processor which costs $3000 + for the display unit. I bit the bullet and bought the bigger unit with the faster processor last month and it does make a world of difference in the picture that live scope provides you.
I initially made a mistake buying the 93 sv + unit to save money. If you are going to buy live scope get the best display unit you can afford as it does make a huge difference. I would even suggest holding off on buying livescope with the 93 sv+ unit and saving for the larger unit before you buy anything.
As SK has stated you can catch crappie without buying livescope. I caught plenty of crappie using my HB 999 unit until I upgraded all my electronics during 2019. A friend is now using that 999 to catch crappie with his boat.
