I found this one new but dusty on the shelf at an old bait store yesterday, it's the older model MH9B (4000-9000 BTU). It doesn't have the swivel connection where the bottle/hose attaches. I attached the 1lb bottle to it and turned it to the low setting, works great. I will give it a chance but, I think the exposed flame will go out with the slightest breeze.

Thanks for all the responses folks..keep'em coming!

This thread reminds me of something my uncle told my about my dad back in the 1940s. He would use a coleman lantern placed down inside a metal 5 gallon pail. He told them it really kept him warm.

I use the Mr.Heater head and put it on a 20lb tank. Doesn't blow out and really warm.

Have you had any trouble getting a 20# tank with the long hose to work? I bought mine a couple years ago, and ordered that hose/adapter for a 20# tank and I cant get it to fire the year. OBTW the small tanks dont last long and at $7.00 a bottle it can get expensive to stay warm. I use mine when I tent camp in the winter trout fishing, on a 25 degree morning they it warms the tent just fine.

I bought the 1lb bottles from our local Rural King $6.98 (2 per pack). I got the 5' hose and pressure regulator ; just need a 5-10lb tank that would be ideal.
