Push the jigs at .8 or faster. You will get a reaction bite. I like to use a 1 oz weight doing that. Keep your lines at a 45 degree angle and the depth of your bait will be about 2/3 of the amount of line out. Hope this helps.

My dad is a WWII VET. He taught me to do my homework and save trouble and heartbreak. I researched YouTube and forums and I was lucky enough to find great knowledge in crappie.com. Mr Genes design and engineering are amazing on rod holders and transport rack. Adjustments on his equipment make them custom to ones needs.

    First spider rigging expedition

Changes. I will respool 8 pound mr crappie and use improved clinch knot , bead bellow egg weightto #10 swivel and leader to mustard ultra light wire jig

I may have snap swivel on top of leader. But I will have extra leader already made up for retiring. I may change up this configuration later but got a urning to try it. Also I am going to use 3/32 jig heads

Weight of the jigheads ain't no big factor, IMHO ... since your trolling weight is what's holding them at depth. I've used everything from 1/32oz to 1/4oz for jigheads that I'm "Pushing" ... but have narrowed it down to 1/8oz jigheads for the most part. And I'd still use them if I was Spider Rigging (I'd just slow down & tip the jig/plastics with a minner, and "maybe" shorten the leader length).

Thank you for your input. Actually I was going to lengthen my leader. Do you think 10 to 12 inches leader needs to be shortened I was going to try 16 inch leader. I use jigs in other applications also. Aware that jig size is no big issue for Spider rigging but had hope of some POSITIVE input on 3/32 jigs.

I'll give you some "positive" input on 3/32oz jigs ... if they have a #2 hook !!

On the leader length .... for pushing jigs I use 18-24" - for pushing cranks I use 36-60" - for Spider Rigging I would probably use 10-14" leaders : reason being I don't want the fish dangling very far under the big weight when I'm hauling it over the side of the boat, nor do I want the jig to be too far under the weight in case I get hung up and have to drop the weight with the rod tip to "pull" the jig off, especially if I'm running the jig very close to the bottom. That's just me, though, as I'm sure other (more experienced) Spider Riggers may differ.

I run no more than 8 in leader below weight and some times 6. Remember this, you have a 12 in leader below weight, fish hits and comes up then you have lift weight first then catch up 12 or more inches before you begin to set hook.
