Just drop a handful of ICE in the bucket everyday and keep it out of the sun/heat.

Mine runs on D size batteries. 8 Enerigizer D size at Amazon are $11.75 12 minnows are $3, 2 d size batteries are 4 days non stop. Approx $1.50 ea for for 4 batteries, $3 for 2 batteries, gets me 4 days of bait life on a dozen minnows dunno how longer more minnows would last though. Dosen't appear to be a great value. Depends on how long you kneed to keep minnows alive. And how many, that I don't know still. Looks close to break even deal for the short term minnows begin to die after 5 days. I lost 3 on day 5. I had 18 minnows in the Styrofoam bucket during this test.Dropping in a handful of ice per day.

I have two of the 30s and they do an awesome job, we don't fish little minners and they will keep 30 dozen going all day long with no problem, never go to the lake without at least 30 dozen

Yep, got a vat at the house to help keep the left overs in, last Friday we may have had 3 dozen left when we got in. When you bait 8 poles with 2 on each pole it doesn't take long to go through bait and I believe in fresh bait. Dave can tell ya.

    I'm seeing a misconception here
Bubbles basically do nothing for gas exchange except cause water movement
Gas exchange occurs on the surface
Size of bubbles isn't important, the amount of water movement is
Thanks CoryA thanked you for this post

I bought an Engel down in Florida, it was the 30 quart cooler, I ordered an Air Pump from ebay and modified the cooler by adding the pump, it works on D-Cell and 12 volt lighter plug. I have a 100 watt solar panel on my dock and provides plenty of power to keep the pump running, so far, so good. Change water out daily, minnows looking good!!!

Eight poles with two shiners on each. I know of some here in Louisiana with 16 poles with three shiners on each. Yep, lots of bait for sure. Might as well pull a net. To me, that's not fishing. I realize it's impressive to some to see the final catch laying out on a tailgate - "look what I caught". Guys are all into saying "great catch".

Folks in my boat hold one pole. Not into impressing folks.

    I'm done here.
