I use Viscous hi-vis braid in 10-2 for vertical jigging and Viscous hi-vis mono 8lbs for casting
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

I was sort of expecting that as well, but just wasn't sure. I've never used it myself, but apparently there's not likely to be a huge difference in that and a good quality mono or what I am using now--a good quality copolymer line. I think for now I will do as a couple others suggested and stick with what I've got. Really do appreciate those who have provided their input. Thanks, guys.

All I can say is what I use, and how I use it. Sounds like you have it already. Power pro 2/10 in yellow with a flouro leader that starts out about 5' and shrinks as I tie and cut off to change color or weight. the flouro is 10lb. Braid sensitivity is second to none, and the flouro might not be needed as I have seen folks tie direct and outfish me. I have felt fish chew on the bait and never thump and caught them, those fish usually missed with any line with a memory. This line casts without effort should the need arise, but I usually fish directly below with it. I keep the jig in the holder at the base of the rod and this keeps the leader perfectly straight. Tons of fun when this method is on.

Used Mr crappie in 4 and 6 lb can't beat the price!!! But started using berkely Nano fil in 10 & 12 lb test 4& 6 lb dia in the clear mist kind of pricy but is unreal on the fill of the thump even with a bow in line and work good in clear or stained water!!!

Good stuff here, skeetbum. I may just have to give braid a try. That's really what I was after in this thread--wanted to see what people use themselves, and why. You certainly make a good case...and I assume by your words here, that braid has no memory. I did not know that. I've actually got two 9' bottom-reel-mount Ozark jig poles, so I could fish one with the P-line coply I'm using now, and use braid on the other. That would sure tell the tale, wouldn't it? Perfect comparison between the two.

Thanks again to all who have contributed to this thread.

I use 8/1 power-pro on baitcasters. With the baitcaster it is much easier to pull line off the reel to get to your desired depth. You said you fish in the trees and brush piles so I'll add something that hasn't been mentioned and that is don't be leary of useing weedless jig heads. I've been using them for a few years now and I'm saving a lot of jig heads and catching as many or more because of the weedguard. More recently I've been using 1/4oz and 3/8oz the reason behind that is to keep your line in a more vertical position. Hope this helps.

I use mono clear or green in 6 pound test, and 4 pound test.

I use whatever is handy with lightwire hooks...
