    Default Evening Trip

Went to the river yesterday evening and ended up with 23 and 1 bass. Only caught 1 female and she had eggs still. Orange/chart pepper. 4 ft deep in 5-7 ft water. The wind was terrible, but had a good time.

Nice. Is there a boat ramp to access the river near alexandria? That would be an hour from me which is how long it takes to get to the creek. Thanks in advance.

Yes. There is one at Bulow state park (if it's still open), one in Boyce, one in Colfax, and one at Montgomery. Not sure about any below Alexandria cause that's as far as I fish.

Here's a link that shows the launches on the Red. You may have to save the pic and zoom on it, because it's too little to read for me.

All the boat launches are still closed between lock 1 & lock 2. The water at the ramp by my house is 3/4 way to the top going down every day then you have the RRLD clean all the sand off the launch.

St Maurice is at or below normal. It's getting pretty low.

CORECTION.......CORECTION AS OF 4 PM THIS EVENING THE RED RIVER LAUNCHES ARE OPEN. Sorry about that when I stopped at Ben Routh and Brouillette yesterday they were still closed. This info came from the guys cleaning the sand off the ramp.

Looks like I can fish right there where the launch is at buhlow. Any thoughts based on the satellite pics?

Not sure about depth, but that oxbow doesn't look bad. There is also another one about a couple of miles south of there on the same side of the river. That one looks real good to me. Just be careful going into those things, cause sometimes they are shallow when you turn into them from the river and sometimes the corps has put rocks across the mouth. You can usually tilt your motor up and go on across them. I tore my motor up in 2002 and did $2400 worth of damage to it behind a rock getty on the river where they had put rocks going from the getty to the bank. I've ridden down to Bulow landing from Boyce, but have never fished there.
