    Default Toledo Bend

Going to the Bend next week Sunday thru Thursday , pirates Cove. Hoping to find some of those shallow crappie that I can float and fly or slow roll. I知 so excited to do that I can稚 wait. Fishing in Caddo and Black bayou lake is good but a totally different technique. Maybe some use the above mentioned methods here but I primarily fish single trees. I知 ready for pretty water and grass beds !

If you have never been there, the early bite in Pirate's Cove has been in the back where the bayou feeds the cove - turn right when you come out of the landing pocket. There are some camps on the right then a small arm which has been good but the stretch after that are going to the back has been my best early spot in years past. The second area to get good was always the inside hydrilla line - usually about 6-7 feet deep. You can cast or troll that. After that, the outside line - anywhere from 13' - 18' deep. With the big rise there will be a lot of trees and bushes in the water but with the spillway gates open and both generators running the fish might pull out a little deeper. Good luck.

Hey thanks. I know exactly the spots you are talking about. Grew up fishing Pirates over the years. My favorite place is behind the big island but I have caught them in the back of toro too. I leave tomorrow an I can稚 wait !
