Default Memorial Day Swim on Darbonne

The storms went through, so I thought would go to Darbonne for a few hours this morning. I made it to Jakes Landing around 6:30am and only one truck there, not usually a good sign. My buddy Padre318 could not go this morning, so I was docking the boat alone like I have done a 1000 times before. Well this morning my tow line hook decides to break when boat comes clear of the trailer. I stood there in shock for a few seconds and then looked around for help, of course no one was around. The boat was drifting further and further away. I hurried and cleared my pockets and had to swim about 30 yards to retrieve the boat. I found out getting to the boat was not the hardest part, getting in the boat was a chore in itself. When i finally get the boat back to dry land, of course a fellow fisherman pulls up waiting on me to move my truck off the ramp. Looking like a drowned rat, I collect my wallet, phone, and shoes and parked the truck. I still managed to have a good time, and kept 12 out of probably 25. I got to try out the new pony head jigs with sickle hooks I bought from satdoc1 here on crappie.com. They worked great, no lost fish on those bad boys.

Remember those who gave all, so we could enjoy the freedom we have today. Happy Memorial Day.

If you dont have time to do it right the first time, when are you going to find time time to fix it.

Glad everything worked out fine......That's one reason I don't use a rope to launch my boat.

I used to leave the winch cable hooked up, back boat in till it floats, and unload that way. Couple years ago I seen a guy lose a finger in the winch unloading that way. That is when i went to the rope method.
