Oh yeah....that shoe-pic is plenty big enuf to give her a good fight.....glad you got into some fish....
Yesterday the everything was just right, sunny, no wind, clean water. The problem was I had a job to finish. I had formed up a new sidewalk from my front steps to the road way which had it own set of steps. So I had mixed and poured 16 eighty pound bags of concrete. I finished early enough to do a fishing trip but my old body said NO.
Today was a different story. It was cloudy to start and windy but at least the water looked great. We first hit a few canals looking for sacs but none to be found. Next we went after bass and hit the jackpot, we caught more than eniough for supper and put the rest back. It was a great time. Linda even tied into a "shoe-pic" and had a battle of her life. It wasn't as big a Bruce's but I glad for she had her hands full with that one. After landing it for her with the net she still didn't know what she had. It was only the 2nd one she's ever caught and the first one was 20 years ago. All in all it was a great day for us.
We also met two other husband/wife teams fishing. We chatted with one couple for a while and found out they were from Pierre Part and had only been to the Grove a couple of times. I gave them a card and invited them to join the forum with us as they were some of the nicest people. Here are a couple of shots of the fish, we caught plenty and only kept some. We would go back tomorrow but it's Saturday, too many people. For a Friday the parking lot was almost full so I can just imaging what it will look like tomorrow. Next weeks weather look great so I'm sure we can find a couple of days to go.

Nice catch ,... the sacs have moved back in main canal for now..lots with eggs still...go figure...kinda thought that was a done deal but that's what keeps the species going..
16-80lb bags is more than enough for any man to deserve a fishing trip. Wish I lived closer… we wldve cut that time by a third
Sounds like good times as usual from your reports, Mr Gene.
Hope the forums don't coax Mrs Linda into believing choupique are worthy of slaving over.....
Other than for crawfish bait...!
All joking aside, I've eaten awesome choupique twice....
Both were terrible.

Pretty green fins - must be about ready to make some babies. And they do pull good on a fly rod!
Thanks Pete, just about the same on a jigging pole. I think the bass have mostly spawn as none had eggs this trip. They were hungry and feeding against the banks.
