Thumbs up Not As Productive, But Twice As Much Fun

Went back to D'Arbonne Bayou at Joe Bob's this morning. I didn't catch as many fish, but I had twice as much fun as I did last week when I kept 19. I had my two oldest grandchildren with me; Kaylee Grace (13) and Payton (9). The gates on the lake must be closed because there was zero current.

Of course, with the kids, I didn't get up at 4:30 and get to the landing before dawn. As a matter of fact by the time we left the house, drove 58 miles, and stopped for morning refreshments it was 9 o'clock before we were on the water. LOL. By the time I found the fish, the kids were ready to go riding in the boat.

We still had a great time and a very productive day. I taught them to be courteous when passing another fisherman by slowing to an idle, I tried to teach them the difference between a fish hitting the jig and the jig hitting a limb, (they need more practice on that one) LOL. We talked about why the lake commission was lowering Lake D'Arbonne, about the damage that was done during the March flood, and the importance of idling through a "No Wake" zone, so as to protect the property of others.

And we kept a mess of fish to boot. We kept 5 crappie, threw one back, lost three while trying to teach Payton how to land a fish, and threw back a stripped bass. The ones we kept we 10", 11", 12", 13", and 14". Plenty for me and Mrs. Diane for supper one night.

Here are a few pictures of my first crappie trip with my 2 oldest grandchildren. I hope you enjoy them.

Very nice trip Pastor, that's the way to teach them. I did the same with my kids and now they know how to behave when fishing or boating.

Hard to imagine a better way to spend the day. My GKs grew up so fast it was a blur. They are 18, 17, and 16 now. Got a 4 year old left to teach the finer things of life to.

Thanks for teaching the next generation. Thanks also for giving tips and reports on here. You put me in the fish last weekend. I really appreciate that.
