Welcome to the forum "Doobienaq"......I never put them out but some of our guys from that area can tell you more.....
I'm fairly new to sac fishing (more of a bass guy). However, this year my father-in-law and I decided to give sac-a-lait a try after seeing reports and catching a few tiny ones that ended up in his aquarium. My question is: is it worth putting out brush piles in areas with relatively low water (5'-8')? I notice that most fisherman fish the banks from the middle, but I've had more luck fishing isolated grass in the middle of backwater canals (found by my fish finder). Would it be worth it in areas like canals around Lake Bouef, Orange Grove, and Bayou Black?
Btw, fried sac sandwiches have got me hooked!

Welcome Doobienaq, brush piles work great been using them for years. Here is the best technique: buy some small square bales of hay, tie a can of cheap dog food on each side of bale, punch one hole on top and one hole on bottom of each can, **small ice pick size holes** I use old fashion window weights, two normally does it, to weight it down and keep it down. You will be amazed at how many fish this will attract. You will catch more than just Sac's trust me. Problem: others will eventually find your juiced up honey spot and,,,,you know what happens then. Great to have a private canal/lease to employ this system. Anyway, hope this helped you. Capt. Clyde
I put them in shallow water all the time. The deepest the bayou I fish is only 15 ft. I put the piles in 10ft or less water. On another place It is only 9ft at its deepest. I cut willow and cypress limbs and push the trunk of the branch into the mud with a push pole. No weights needed. We make the pile in the shape of a large circle. We bring a chainsaw and cut limbs and put the pile a bend or 2 away from where we cut. This makes it harder for other fishermen to find them. This pick is of the branches for one pile.

Great tip Capt. I've heard of people doing this but never from a person doing it. I glad to see that it's a tip that works. Now to go get me some of those trailer you sell and see if that will improve my catch ratio.
It was also nice speaking to you tonight and hear how passionate you are about your trailers. I wish you the best in getting them to market on a greater scale. If they work only half a good as you were telling me they are bound to be popular. I know that on a tough day my friend Armand out fished me by using them, and he's a rookie.
