I have a B&M telescopic for a back up. It feels like a brick compared to these custom built rods. No eyes string is inside the rod. They weigh 6 oz. with reel. They are made from 8 wt. fly rod blanks. I keep my piano wire in my tackle bag. I use spider wire and you can feel the weight of the jig at the end of it falling it is that sensitive..I won't use anything else for jigging nothing compares to it with a solo reel.
thats a real good catch right there Bayoucrappie good luck if you go today i just wanted to say one of them three pronged hand rakes like the ones for a flower bed those work real good on a painters pole and it slides together which makes it compact i just get one that is long enough for the jig pole i use it works great!! so yall go get them good luck tomorrow!!
I second the J.D. Courtney jig pole. Most sensitive rod I've ever fished.
Also I have done some Lilly pad punching in Henderson, not in the pits though and with great success.
