You really need to visit his shop and watch him build one and then he"ll teach you his way of using it. Something to see. IMO
I'd like to visit, i'm all about learning something new but i don't think i could talk my wife into driving to south Louisiana just to visit Mr. Salter, we may have to go to the aquarium in New Orleans and on the way back get lost and wind up at his shop, lol
those 12-14ft power plus poles at bass pro do jsut fine for me I have caught a ton of crappie on em. They only run about 20 bucks and i jsut throw a small spinning reel spooled with 6 pund trilene sesative line on it !
Love Fish Love the Water and Love your children most important of all !
yI use mainly b&m sam heaton supers sensitive 60- 70 dollars depending on size but well worth it. ive gotcouple each 10,11,and 12 footers the 11 is the most versatile but there are times when each one has its usefullness. but if only buying one the 11 foot is best. fished with 9 ft fly rods as a jig pole most of my life and they work pretty well also. Both the sam heatons and the fly rods i use have cork handles which are a prefence to me
I just got back from visiting with J B Salter and bought 2 of his graphite poles for my spares ( I have 2 already).....I will be bringing them to D'Arbonne in December and will make them available for purchase (still wrapped in plastic) for anyone who cannot make the long drive to his shop.....he is not too far from me so I can go back for more.....selling for what I paid.......I paid $75 (each) plus $7 in tax......comes with pole, line, reel and 1/16 minnow jig with a black & char tube...

RETIRED LOUISIANA CRAPPIE HUNTER
I bought my first B & M pole saturday at Acedemy because I have read alot about them here. 12' for $34. What bothers me is that even though there is a Mississippi address on the tag, it says made in China. Hope my grandfather and dad didn't roll over in their graves.

Does anyone have a phone number? Want to make sure he is going to be there before I drive over.
