    Default Old River (Morganza, LA)

We have a big weekend planned at our camp on Old River in Morganza/Bachelor, LA. Has anyone fished it this week and done any good? We heard of some great sac-a-lait reports last Saturday but they turned off when I went Sunday b/c the river started to rise again. Now that it is dropping again, I assume the fishing should be red hot. Any help is appreciated. By the way, for those who haven't tried Old River before, you should. I think the next couple weeks are going to be the best, whether you fish sac-a-lait or bream.

I just got a call from someone who fished Old River today. Im not sure of the exact number but they said it was enough to fill up most of a 70qt ice chest. They caught them in the woods on the north side of the river near the landing, all on shiners. Does anyone else on this site fish Old River?

Sounds like it should definitely be a good weekend...
Make sure you give us the details Monday.

Never fished THAT Old River, but may have to try one day.

    G'luck

    lsufan1188,
A friend told me (yesterday) about catching 43 the same way Car Knocker described.

Went about 4 weeks ago, mostly to run my boat since the water was so high. Fished a little for bream. Caught a few in the woods just past (north) bachelor slough. Had to get back in the trees far enough until the water was 5- 6' deep. Caught a few nice ones.

Good luck and let us know how you do !!

Never fished it before, but with all the reports, it sounds like you should get you some minnows/shiners and hit the woods.. Good Luck
You can't fish with a hung line!
