    Done that many a time at T-ville .... but, don't remember catching any Crappie with them, just lots of Hybrids. Probably because my first net was the 3/8in mesh. 3" Shad would get hung halfway thru that mesh. Bought a 1/4" couple of years later, but never used it more than a few times. Don't think I've used either one of them in a couple of decades.

    I never could catch crappie on shad, yet I find shad
    in the crappie I clean, and sometimes large ones, like 4" long.
    I don't get it.

    Yea same here. I use these for catfish bait mostly, or I’ll take some down to the cumberland river for big rainbows
