Told you so!
Well, I’ve seen the posts where people brag on the Pico crank baits, but I hadn’t tried any until this year. But after my last 2 trips, I may have to break down and get some. They’ve worked awfully good. My brother in law had a few when we went and we tested em out. They out fished the other cranks we was using by quite a bit. If I ranked em in order of how they did catching, it would be-
- Picos
- Bandits
- Arkies
- Flicker shad- did not catch a fish
- Wiggle wart- did not catch a fish
Fished 16-28 fow. Caught fish 9-16 ft deep. Water temps 68-74. Last 2 trips resulted in 40 crappie & 2 blue cats and 60 crappie & 3 blue cats. Hot colors were Mudbug and Smokey Shad.

How fast are you going for them to wiggle just right. Looks like they was.

Doug, you’re right- they work. I’m convinced after seeing em out fish the other cranks side by side. Gonna get an order in soon. I like to push the 3oz weights on my down rods too, so gonna get a few of the lipless pico perch as well.
Was actually going a little slower those days- 1.5 mph seemed to be the sweet speed.
Was deep sea fishing on Barren. The water has finally been pulled down to where it was just a little over 10 feet above summer pool when I caught those. They’re still pulling water hard though.
Seen lots of people fishing the banks, but not many catching. Most of the fish I caught were females, still full of eggs. Not sure if it’s the flooded high water or where it’s being pulled down so hard, but there’s a lot of fish still waiting to spawn. Last year Barren had high water too, and I’ve got pics on my phone of fish I caught June 9, 2018 that were still full of eggs.

Crappie haven’t heard the alarm go off that a lot seem to think will immediately escort them to their spawn mode.
