    Default Lake Cumberland 11/29

Fished Lake Cumberland on Thursday. Been catching fish 25-30 ft deep, but decided to try them shallow. Ended up catching 53 nice crappie using one pole with a float and jig. Fished in the back of a creek in water 5 to 8 ft deep fishing from 2 to 4 ft. Only had 7 fish less than legal size. Ended up keeping a limit of fish from 11 to 14 inches. Tried to post a picture but had a problem. Will try again. I went back in my records and discovered that I caught a limit of crappie on the very same day last year in another creek on Cumberland. They were shallow as well. Thursday was an awesome day, though the weather was cold and it rained a bit. I guess it kept most fishermen away. Didn't see but two other boats all day and they were bass fishing.

Sounds great was thinking of going to Cumberland this weekend. I was going to tenn but my buddy said it’s too far without knowing the fish are biting. Mind me asking what color was best? Will try it tomorrow maybe Caney, fishing creek or white oak. I was thinking of going to the river around London Dock. I guess I’ll figure it out in the am

I caught all my fish on a white Bobby Garland jig tipped with Chartreuse Crappie Nibbles. They were hitting it right off the bat, so that's the only color I tried. I love the Pearl White color this time of year when the water is pretty clear. Don't know what all this rain will do however in the backs of the creeks. White Oak is a VERY good creek to try. The upper end Fishing Creek should be good, too, if it doesn't get to murky from the rain. If you don't find them shallow, move out and fish around trees in 10 to 14 ft of water, fishing 10 to 12 ft deep.

kyfishman, Great catch, especially not using minnows, just gigs. I used to fish Pitman Creek with a lot of success. I May need to check this area out since you did good at the lake.. I think the place was 'Hillside Cottages' with the 'Hill-aviator' to get down to their dock. Hope it is still there.

Thanks very much for the information. I would say I’ll be in one of the creeks. I haven’t got any reports from Tenn lakes. I am getting cabin fever bad. I’ve had surgery and reaction to meds. So I have not wet a line since August
