Barren was slow today. Any hot spots or more tips, I may try it out in the am.......
I put in at Moutardier at 07:30 and by 10:00 had a limit and started culling fish. Main lake in 4-8 FOW using minnows. There was more traffic on the water than usual for this time of the year but the water looks great and the fishing was equally good. Started throwing a jig for some bass to stink up the oil and caught two over 4lbs. Its like somebody turned on a light switch!

Between Moutardier and Wax. I focused on areas that I know have a gravel bottom as opposed to larger chunk rock or silt. Never caught a single fish over the larger rocks and didn't spend too much time on the soft bottom. I think a lot of the bass traffic will leave tonight and make it easier to control the boat tomorrow morning.I had to switch to a slip bobber with all the wakes on the lake from the tournament boys to keep a consistent depth but it got hairy spider rigging with 4 slip bobbers. Will probably take them off in the morning if the lake is calmer. I get off of work at 7 in the morning and plan on loading up the truck and heading out again for another round. If it goes like it did this morning I will be home in bed by 1...hopefully.
Look for a red truck with a camo boat. I will try it out in the am. Hope to catch a limit and have a small fish fry tomorrow.
Barren is hot too, just got to know where they are!
Where should I go for minnows. Have no clue where to look. Went to Barren today and they were sold out at all stores. Did not catch many fish there either, it was a slow day
I am going to have to call in the morning to find some-might have to go to Wax to find them. I bought them in Campbellsville yesterday when I picked up my boat and brought them with me. I know that the marina at Wax on 88 carries minnows almost year round and they'll be the first place I call. I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine that said that the shallow crappie bite was good in Rock Creek this morning. If you put in at Wax marina and go right down the lake it will be the first big creek on your right. The Iberia Ramp on 88 is on Rock Creek but I have had bad luck launching out of there with my current boat. There is tons of standing timber and shallows that the fish can use to lay eggs. Wax is about 20 minutes closer to me and they sell bait so that is probably where I'll end up.
