I have a 2 stroke 4 HP Evinrude on my 18 foot Clipper MacSport. I'd go with the 4 stroke Mercury with a built in tank. I think the 4 hp is the smallest with reverse. The 2.3 is very light though. The 4 HP Evinrude pushes the Clipper fastert han I want to go.

I had a Bass Hunter II setup like that ; I miss that rig, really like the rudder didn't think to use the pvc. I used the old shaft instead.
