    Default La Cygnes declining?

Went out Saturday to La Cygnes for a meat trip. Arrived just before sunrise alone at the outlet for just a little while. Bass tounry guys came out round 8. Lots of boats on the lake by 9. FIshed till 2. Caught just over 100 whites, couple 16" lmb also same size as eash other. New fish partner was having an off day, we werent cycling well and had some terrible recovery times trying to pull only 5 once the wind got the waves right. Were fairly decent with 3 and 4 fish passes. Should have caught a lot more. Only had about 10 decent white bass. Noticed most of fish being caught appeared to be same year class. No wipers caught. Did look at the south end but didnt fish it. Last year saw poor wipes and blues compared to previous years.
Although Ive always lived on other lakes, I've always considered la cygnes my home lake. Having fished it over 20 years, Im starting to believe the lake is declineing. Pressure just seems incredible. Thinking this will not be my home lake this year. Anyone else thinking the lake is on some kind of decline?

Lakes are cyclical. May be on the down swing, but like anything in nature there are peaks and valleys.

My experience and opinion is that there are still a lot of good fish and very good fishing at the lake. Im speaking of white bass, wipers, catfish and crappie. I don't fish for largemouth. That said, my personal experience at the hot water outlet has not been good. In years past it seemed anyone could catch fish there in the winter...but I haven't had much luck there recently.

I fish open water almost exclusively, spending 90% of my time on the southern half of the lake. Creek channels, road beds, bridge, humps, flats etc...I have had many great trips the past couple years with some quality fish.

I didn't get to fish La Cygne much this winter due to the new baby but the one trip I did make it out there I put over 50 wipers between 4 and 7 pounds in the boat along with a flathead, several largemouth, and a few big white bass. KDWPTs samples are still showing a very healthy lake. I believe the pressure is just making the fish smarter. I do have the advantage of being able to fish during the week when the pressure is far less. The one day I was down there, I was 1 of 3 boats on the water all day. Last year I fished it quite a bit more, mainly for bass. I had several over 5 and 2 over 7 pounds with the biggest much closer to 8 pounds than 7.

All fish were released after their photo shoots btw.

Not familiar with that lake. Are there creeks or rivers feeding it? Is it possible the fish have moved into or just outside of them for pre spawn?

There's a small river that runs into the north end of the lake that some fish move up into during the warmer months but not enough to cause the fish population on the lake to decline.

I agree. Thats what im seeing. Hit it again today, same result. 90% same year class. Few Wipers I saw were 16"s. Looks down.

Kids sleeping in their car on the ramp this morning. Here's their pic.

That was real nice of them to park in the middle of the boat ramp like that. I think my horn would have been malfunctioning while I was backing my boat in
