    Default From your fishing experiences....

Something to kill the time till we can get on the water....

Silly little things you have done that you look back on that you can laugh at (maybe with a little embarrassment).

First, went fishing once...got there, realized I forgot my poles. (Never has happened again)

Second, first year fishing through the ice for crappie. Buddy and I cut a couple of holes thru the ice behind a dam. Dropped our jigs down to about 16 ft ...bam!!! The fish took our jigs into the brush pile, NO WAY of getting out. We thought we were in for some good fishing. Took about 2 jigs apiece that we realized we were dropping our jigs right above where the drain pipe from the dam intake is. Water suction was pulling our lines, no way to get them back. Dam!!!!! sure felt good for about 5 minutes....distinctly remember the adrenaline rush and this was 30 yrs ago. LOL
Sacred Heart of Mary, pray for us now, and at the hour of our death. AMEN

Your fishing the drain tube experience is very familiar to a hilarious story Doug aka ‘slabby joe’ has told about fishing the dam outlet at Lacygne Lake.

Maybe he will chime in here since that fish catching thrill was also being experienced by other fishers out there at that time. That is iffen he can take some time away from all his current fish catching and leave some fish out there for me in case I can ever get re-motivated to get after them again.

Correction that 'fish catching thrill' should be changed to a 'fishing thrill'.

Catfishing with my brother late one night on the Neosho with my brother and a friend. We were fishing off the bridge east of Hartford with the Neosho on the rise. Been a slow night and my brother gets a bite. Problem was when he reeled it up to check his bait, the bait was 5 ft from the water up on the bank.

Fishing a farm pond and the owner told us their was a bull in there. Big pasture so no biggie. An hour later the bull is right there and my cousin looks over to see him pawing the ground. We take off running for the gate and hop up on it. Neighbor watches it all and as we are sitting on top of the gate gives us a great piece of advice "Don't worry, he won't eat ya".

Last one for now. Crappie fishing a pond. Lots of 10-12" crappie. Problem is they have this pony names "Sweetie" in there. Just watching this stupid ass pony you can tell its mischievious. SOB chewed on the bed rails of my truck. It picked up our tackle boxes and flipped them. Took off running with mine and looked like a damn Labrador retriever. Licked my side view mirror to the point you couldn't see out of them. They still have the freaking pony and I have't fished it since.

Buddies went to LOZ for some crappie spawn action. Took some greenhorns with them. Guy hooks onto a monster starts screaming and jumping around because he finally got a bite (after going almost all day during the spawn and not getting one fish)

He fights reels. Fights screams for about a minute. Rod is bent over. Finally gets it to the boat..... he realized he hooked a rock. They didnt let him live that down.

    My version:

Since i wasnt there. I boldly said. Wtf. No way you can hook a rock and bring it in. Little did i know... fishing one day we casted very close to the banks. Long story short. I hooked a rock and got it to the boat.

Night fishing with 3 of my buddies for white bass at hillsdale sometime ago. One of my buddy was telling us how he got this new soft lure that is perfect for whites bass. The fish was biting hard that night all of us were busy landing fish and we keep hearing this guy complain about how the fish bite hard but every time he set the hook the fish let go. After each of us landed about 20 some white bass I turn back my head just in time to see him getting his new soft lure out of the water. The plastic tube (for preventing the hook to go through packaging bag) was still on the hook........... We laugh hard for 5 mins and he manage to land about 5 whites after that.
I fish at Hillsdale lake and now la cygne

When traveling to a fishing tournament, always make sure you have your boat key. Nothing else needs to be said...

Also a good idea to install the drain plug before launching boat. My antique 1971 aluminum riveted boat has no leaks with the drain plug installed!!!
