Default trout season begins tomorrow Nov 1st

My 2nd favorite fish to fish for is trout. Looking forward to getting out and getting that thump going from trout. sure wish we had a little more water so they would have the stream stocked here in Wichita, but they put all the fish in the lake instead so it is fish in a barrel for a few months before it gets cold. Any one else here like trout fishing in this area? havent tried any other lakes in kansas except for mined lakes in SW kansas.

hope to get to do both on saturday.

I would release more if they didn't swallow everything I've ever caught them off of >.< but they are good eating and when you work for a deli sometimes the little bit of extra meat helps and hey, it tastes great!

Was hoping to put up a little fishing report this weekend but seems like it would be time wasted with this wind, I don't even want to attempt the two holes I know decent enough now, I miss having hills D:

Drove down to Crystal Lake in Garnett to try to catch a couple today (love fresh trout!). No luck. I do not really have a clue how to fish for them. Floated a couple different powerbaits off the bottom but no bites. Threw a black/silver rooster tail a bit too. Still no luck. Saw a few jumping close to me though. Got cold pretty quick. Fishing for stocked trout may not be my strongest skill.

surprisingly you will do very well with minnows and most people I notice fish too deep, try up close to shore within the first few feet, seems better in my experience.
