Making your own pillheads

Not sure I even know the difference in a pill head and an aspirin head so someone please explain the difference since both have flat sides?

Today I was looking for some leadheads up in the closet to paint when I came across a set of pliers that iIreceived at Christmas.One of them was a 4 3/4 inch flatnosepliers.I took it out and started to work on flattening some 1/32 oz.ballheads.A light squeeze and I had 1/32 oz.pillheads in seconds without a collar.I guess now I don't need my pillhead mold unless I want some with a collar.this will make it easier to paint those big eyes.I know I'm not the first to do this but I just wanted to pass it on.they look great.

I have done it this was and also with a good whack of a hammer.

I use my bench vice to flatten the heads. I use two pieces of angle iron to cover the teeth on the jaws.

#2 for the smooth jaw bench vise. I have one that does a real nice job and consistent if you pull the handle to the same place every time. I like doing the powder paint and curing, then putting the big reflective eyes and a spot of clear and they last longer than the trees will let them.

Do you guys use a pill head just to be able to have big eyes on a small weight, or do you use them because they fall differently?

I watched Richard Williams make a lot of the aspirin heads for Tzur jigs at his shop. He used a vice with some type adapter to crank out a bunch at once.. He could really crank em out.

I ain't seen Richard in a couple of years.
