    Went to Patoka again. Caught 14 fish over 9 inches and many, many more under. Fished anywhere from 3 to 30 foot of water. Caught fish everywhere. Found one brushpile mixed in with all the trees and caught 6 of the 9 keepers. No eggs in any of the fish. Did see some yellow meat that someone talked about in another post. Couldn't tell if they were fish that had just spawned or fish that were absorbing the eggs because they didn't spawn.

    Default Patoka yesterday (5/19)

    Went to Patoka yesterday and fished up river from Osborn ramp. Water level was about normal, maybe a little high, and slightly muddy, but not bad. Water temp was in the upper 60's.

    Caught both black and white crappies all day, but they were small. A few on tubes, but mostly on minnows. They seemed to be about 5-7 feet deep over 18-25 feet of water, mostly around stumps and laydowns. Didn't find many suspended over brush piles. Only two keepers and even they weren't great. Found one hole where I cought about 20 within 30 minutes - but all small except one.

    I love the lake, but I've never been able to find good sized crappies (over 1 lb), consitantly.

    Well I finally made it to Patoka Lake! On Friday. Drove past it. Dreamed about fishing; but, that was it. First time I have ever seen the lake. I was taking the Family to 'Big Splash' in French Lick. My son's school got free passes to 'Big Splash'. It was really a nice place. Had lots of fun. If you get some free time and the fish are not biting then try it out.

    Slabstalker, I was there wed. the crappie was on the channel breaks by wood. some areas was better then others. finding the bigger fish wasn't easy. but they are there. with the crappie usa coming to town try and ask afterwards the same question and you will probably get a better reply. Tite lipped for now! didn't matter jigs or minnows.
