    Default Lemon Today.

25 degrees when I got up at 6 am so waited till leaving the house at 8 and was on the water by 9:45 am but it had warmed up to 38 by then and ended up at a very nice 61 air temp by 4 pm. Very muddy water as entire lake is pure mud, started out at 47 for water temp, light breeze, sunny high pressure system, and water ended up the warmest I could find was 52. Tried vertical jigging in a couple of spots, long lined jigs for a couple of hours while adjusting the depth finders and the new 360 and not one fish at all the depths I was seeing them on. When the water hit 50, I changed rods and went to crank baits and finally caught 2 pure white 8 and 10 inch crappie cranking along the edges of the creek channel in mid lake 12’ to 14’ deep in 16-18 ft of water. They just haven’t come up yet or hit the banks and neither had the bait balls as they were deep also. No action on top of the water anywhere either from birds or anything. 5 other boats on the water, even couple of them spider rigging with minnows not catching a thing as we chatted back and forth for a few hours as we would occassionally cross each other’s path. Good day to be out, and shake the bugs out of the electronics as the 360 and the 3 megas are ready to rock and working like a charm! Here’s a pic of of 8” fish on a PICO crankbait. Things will get better as the lakes stabilize eventually. Last rain dumped 1.7” and we have more coming Fri./Sat.

I have no idea how that second pic with pink crankbait got loaded but it’s not from fishing today.

Nice, surprised you used cranks, I would have assumed far to sluggish yet for that?

On 4/21/18, water temp was 51 and muddy, when I first hammered them with crankbaits last year. Actually was working on electronics and dialing them in, and not paying a lot of attention to the poles when I switched to cranks. For the bigger water, the fishin has been rough this spring so far with the up/downs of air temps and electrical storms we been getting as nobody is hammering the bass, walleye or crappie much yet and pure muddy. With water temps rising, mud won’t make a difference as they will eventually hit and start their move up towards the banks alittle more. And wind!!!

    Electronics are dialed in!!!

nice.. me an a buddy went and fished a pier at a local lake yesterday and today caught a total of 30 crappie and 4 bluegill yesterday plus a couple nice bass and today I went and caught 18 more plus 6-7 bluegill.. believe it or not in water 12 inches to 5 ft along side the pier, yesterday they were hitting the jig so hard they jerked the rod tip down, today you couldn't even feel them take it.. about froze to death this morning standing in the rain/wind for 2 hrs(still better then working).
Didnt take any pics my buddy did as he took fish home, today gave them to a girl I work withs Mom.
