Glad your ok. Gear is replaceable. Stay safe.
So went out yesterday to another private pond. Me and a buddy was in the kayaks..after about 5 hrs with nothing to show we decided to come in..On the way back I decided to try to recover one of my slip bobbers from the maple that decided it wanted it more than me. Anchored off and went to stand up to grab it, decided my sit in kayak isn't designed for standing after I ended up in the drink. Fully clothed. Luckily we've had this warm spell I didn't get hypothermia. Managed to swim to shore without losing my boots thankfully. But it coat me half my jigs when one box decided to open. Lost a lews spinning rod, ruined my phone, and damn near lost my pistol when the dry box it was in decided to come open. So..Luckily I walked away. It was a pretty expensive lesson to learn.
Just a reminder. Always let someone know where you are just in case..

Thanks cevans. Just hoping for it to serve as a reminder to someone, anyone..I don't wanna see another Hoosier or anyone for that matter lose their life fishing. Just a constant reminder, it only takes a split second or one dumb decision for things to cascade downhill. I'll wear the stupid pin if it keeps someone else safe..lol
Glad to hear your ok. Things can happen so quick. Sounds like your guardian angel was with you.
No D I did not. That 2$ bobber ended up costing closer to 200$. Lol.
And gone fishing: somebody must've been
Glad that you are safe & thanks for the reminder. We always think it will happen to someone else until it bites our own rear
This is a similar reason why my wife and I don't kayak much anymore. We had a few close calls in early spring, it dawned on me just how bad the situation could be- even if your able to make it out ok wearing tons of clothing, you still have to deal with the cold afterwards.
I took a spill once in a little more decent weather, and my arms cramped up so bad on the rest of the trip it was a bit hard to deal with.
Who said fishing is not a contact sport??? Glad you are ok!
glad you made it ok
